Join the Odessa Community Conservation Club
Any legal resident of the United States who has reached his/her eighteenth birthday may become a Full Member or Regular Member of the Organization with voting and access privileges on approval of the Membership Committee and with payment of current dues.
It is recommended all members of the Club should also hold current membership in the National Rifle Association of America.
Club Membership
There are many benefits to the members of the Odessa Community Conservation Club. The Club provides:
- A safe & comfortable place to shoot
- 24 hours per day / 365 days per year access to the range (unless an event is scheduled)
- Member Only Leagues and Events
- A friendly and supportive membership
Regular Member/Family
- The annual dues of the Organization shall be $60.00, and shall be payable at the time of application. Membership is active immediately and continues for a period of one year from that date. This fee is used entirely to fund Club maintenance, improvements and yearly operating expenses. Any member who has not renewed by the one year date shall cease to have Club privileges.
- Regular membership extends to your spouse and your children (under the age of 18yrs) receive an included youth membership.
- Regular Members have full member voting privileges at each monthly meeting attended.
- Each member receives an individual key-fob allowing them 24/7 access to the club facility and grounds. These items of access remain club property and must be returned upon expiration/termination of membership.
Senior Member
- A Senior Membership is offered to any member who has reached the age of 62yrs prior to the join date or annual renewal date. A Senior membeship fee is $35.00. Senior members shall enjoy all the privileges of a Regular Member.
Youth Member
- A Youth Membership is offered to rhe children of any adult member who are under the age of 18yrs prior to the parents join date or annual renewal date. Youth membership must be accompanied by a qualifing Regular or Senior mebership and is free of charge. Youth members do not receive key/access devices or voting privilages and are required to be under the direct supervision of the sponsering parent or Club official/instructor while on the premises.
- Youth membership allows the youth to participate in the many activities such as the Junior Rifle Program, Hunter Safety programs, Youth Firearm Safety courses and other youth oriented events.
- Complete your application.
- Attend the next Member Meeting held on the first Sunday of each month at 9AM.
- Bring your payment for membership fees. Only cash/check are accepted.
- Your application will be reviewed by our Membership Chairperson, and if approved, processed immediately at the end of the meeting.
- On application approval:
- Bring a Photo ID. We will verify your information.
- Bring your pistol permit to be verified by our membership team.
- You will be oriented to the club rules and policies
- You will be oriented to the club operations and safe operation on the range.
- Safety FIRST - Firearm safety, courtesy and common sense will ensure no one gets injured. Unsafe behavior, consumption of alcohol, drugs or drunkenness at the club is grounds for loss of membership.
- Basic Safety Rules (Cooper’s Four Basic Rules)
- Always treat every gun as a loaded gun
- Never put your finger on trigger until the sights are on target
- Never point gun at anything you are not willing to shoot
- Always know your target and what is beyond it
- Styles of shooting allowed.
- The indoor range is primarily for indoor archery, handgun target shooting, and rimfire sporter rifle shooting.
- Combat shooting of any kind is ABSOLULELY NOT ALLOWED.
- Do not shoot at targets while they are being posted or retrieved.
- NO Draw and Shooting allowed, all shooting is done from the ready position and from the 50ft firing line.
- The allowable firearm types are different for the indoor range and outdoor range.
Indoor Rifle/Handgun Range
- Only rifles permitted are .22 caliber rimfire rifles.
- FMJ, JHP, non-jacketed lead, light plated lead, or frangible bullet type are allowed.
- Armor piercing and solid copper bullets are forbidden.
- All loads must be "target" type loads. No "magnum" loads are allowed..
- No handguns firing rifle type cartridges (ex. Thompson-Center Contender 35rem).
- Only paper targets are allowed. No cans, bottles or other misc items of any type permited.
Outdoor Rifle/Handgun Range
- Any legal Rifle/Handgun/Shotgun may be fired in all shooting positions.
- No handling of a firearm whatsoever if someone is forward of the firing line.
- No use of Tannerite or any other similar "exploding" target is allowed.
- Only paper targets and the many steel gongs permanently installed on the range are permitted. No cans, bottles, cinderblocks, appliances, or trash items of any kind is allowed.
- Shooters are required to pick up after themselves. This includes spent brass, targets, and any other debris from their activities.
- Grounds Entry – Club Access is only by use of Members proximity card or key fob. Loss of your card or key fob will result in a $2 non-refundable replacement fee. The lost fob will be immediatly de-activated.
- Meeting Room: ABSOLUTELY NO HANDLING OF GUNS IN MEETING ROOM.
- BEFORE LEAVING…
- Pick up your equipment
- Sweep up your brass after shooting. Place empty brass in the large brass container located by the range door.
- Members are expected to pick up his/her own trash and targets.
- Turn off the range lights and exhaust fan (if it was used).
- Close doors between the range and meeting room.
- Report any damage/breakage that occurs by leaving a note or contacting a Club Officer directly. Do not try to repair the damage.
- Turn off ready room lights and Exit Club.
- When outside…double-check that the door is firmly closed and locked.
- Close and lock bridge gate securely.
- Get Involved in YOUR Club
- Work parties are held at various times to repair and clean the Club. All members are expected to donate a few hours each year to support the range cleaning and work parties.
- Executive Committee and general membership meetings are held each month on the first Sunday of the month. All members are encouraged to participate. The Annual meeting for the election of offices is held in December. The meeting schedule and Club activities are shown on the Club calendar and our Facebook page.
- Guests are allowed for 1 or 2 visits. After that they are required to join the Club if continueing to use the facility.
